With the success that this game has had, as well as the continued support of DLC from it's release, this isn't going to be the end. However it may be awhile before newer content is released because now the new content will have to be created, whereas previously (skarlet and kenshi) were already planned dlc before the game even came out. This whole process has been what I would call a test that the devolpment team put together as a marketing scheme. The way this game was released, the way it was advertised, marketed, and the way the DLC was handled, are all very interesting. This game used an interesting new and successful DLC feature called the "season pass". This has since been imitated for other games like Rockstar's LA Noir. and while not everyone may have purchased the season pass or any of the dlc characters. Attention was brought to the game because players were able to receive FREE costumes with each compatibility pack. Which has added replay-ability to the game. because of this I am very confident that there will be a second season of DLC. however it may not be until winter, or spring of next year. this second season would include another 4 characters. My hopes would be for playable nerfed/balanced versions of Gorro,Kintaro, and Shaio Kahn, and then Freddy's counterpart, Jason (to complete the Freddy vs Jason legacy). With new compatibility packs and FREE costumes like MK3 kano, MK3 shiang tsung, cyber reptile, MK3 stryker, mK3 sonya and mK4 quan chi. Other DLC charactes could be Cyber Smoke, Frost, Fugin, Tanya or Shinnok, but I would prefer most of those characters to be in the next MK game (continuing the theme, and retelling the events of MK4, MK:Deadly Alliance, MK:Deception, featuring a roster of characters from those games). I wouldn't expect there to be a new MK game until 2013 or 2014.
At the moment, we only have the 4 released, the costume pack (which if its title is any indication, it may not be the last), and the compatibility packs. I've personally read rumors saying that one of the workers said they were done with dlc, but I've also read that Ed Boon himself hinted at Leatherface (texas chainsaw massacre), or other characters. Only time will tell. My advice is to participate in anything that supports more dlc, like if a poll is released asking whom the fans would want to see as dlc, or online forums, or any other means. Hope this helps, and know your not the only one who wants more characters (I'm satisfied with what we have, but theres no doubt I'd download any dlc they release especially in the form of costumes and characters). Actually, as I think about it, maybe there won't be anymore dlc, just patches like the compatibility pack that came with the Freddy dlc.Who is the next dlc after Freddy in mortal kombat 9 ?
Freddy is the last DLC character for MK9. There may be more at a later date (doubtful) or there might be an enhanced edition (like Super Street Fighter 4 etc) that includes extra characters. There is no definite plan yet
